The just announced Climate Science Communication Internship, is a collaborative effort between Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS), Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), and Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study.

This will be an immersive 14-week experience for someone pursuing or holding degrees in meteorology, science communication, journalism, or related fields.

“We’re looking for a person who wants to be a part of our effort enriching the public’s understanding of the climatology and ecology of New Hampshire’s White Mountains,” Hubbard Brook Research Foundation’s Andrew Cassel says.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to find a way to tell the story of our changing climate in new and unexpected ways.”

Interns will engage in various activities, including fieldwork, data analysis, and public outreach.

They will work closely with a Climate Science Research Intern to compile and design a yearly almanac, coordinating with each organization’s communication teams.

Duties include participating in research projects, generating forecasts, and conducting educational tours at the Observatory, as well as contributing to the Appalachian Mountain Club’s already robust social media and outreach initiatives.

Housing and meals are provided, with time off and professional development opportunities.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in meteorological observations, climate change research, and science communication, preparing them for careers in environmental science and public engagement.

This internship emphasizes practical experience and professional growth while contributing to the mission of conserving and understanding the natural world.
