Jennifer Bhatnagar

I am a microbial ecologist and biogeochemist, focused on understanding how microbial communities in terrestrial forests generate the emergent functions of decomposition, nutrient cycling, and carbon sequestration. My research seeks to understand how human-induced global changes – such as warming, elevated carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, nutrient pollution, and urbanization – impact microbial activity in soils and plants at the molecular, community, and landscape levels.
