Research Interests
I am interested in the interactions between tree roots and fungi at both an ecological and molecular level. My research focuses on the mutually beneficial relationships between tree roots and mycorrhizal fungi, a symbiosis called mycorrhiza. One aim of my research is to identify the mycorrhizal communities associated with dominant trees of northern temperate forests, and to evaluate if there are any shifts in community composition under nutrient addition treatment. I am also assessing changes in fine root biomass production under these same treatments. These projects are part of the larger on-going Multiple Element Limitation in Northern Hemisphere (MELNHE) project.
